On Prohibiting the Use of Social Media in Class Projects – A DepEd Memorandum or Order on the matter of “Prohibiting the Use of Social Media in Class Projects and Homeworks” is in order and may be released soon by the Curriculum and Instruction strand. This is in relation to the recent update given by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The DICT appeals for DepEd schools to stop the use of social media in the classroom since learners become vulnerable to different cyber threats.
The office of the DepEd Undersecretary for Administration, Usec. Alain Del B. Pascua, recently issued a memorandum last June 11, 2019, requesting all officials and personnel of the department to assess and submit information regarding the state of every school faculty room in the country. This is a response after the central office received reports of restrooms and other spaces or facilities being converted and used as faculty rooms.

All permanent DepEd employees, teaching and non-teaching personnel, are now required to create an account at Facebook Workplace using the DepEd email address, according to the advice from the DepEd Central Office for Administration, Undersecretary Alain Pascua. This aims to lessen the burden of all personnel by easy dissemination of information, sharing, collaborating and working as one department.
