On Prohibiting the Use of Social Media in Class Projects – A DepEd Memorandum or Order on the matter of “Prohibiting the Use of Social Media in Class Projects and Homeworks” is in order and may be released soon by the Curriculum and Instruction strand. This is in relation to the recent update given by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The DICT appeals for DepEd schools to stop the use of social media in the classroom since learners become vulnerable to different cyber threats. 

The office of the DepEd Undersecretary for Administration, Usec. Alain Del B. Pascua, recently issued a memorandum last June 11, 2019, requesting all officials and personnel of the department to assess and submit information regarding the state of every school faculty room in the country. This is a response after the central office received reports of restrooms and other spaces or facilities being converted and used as faculty rooms. 

The Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (BHROD) of the Department of Education released the DepEd Memo number 076, series of 2019 which is about the Results of 2018 Principals’ Test. The examination was done last December 9, 2018, in 25 testing centers simultaneously. 

The Department of Education thru Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones signals the increase of Public School Teachers’ salary aside from the recently received increase for the final tranche of the Salary Standardization Law (SSL).

As the Department of Education commences the School Year 2019-2020, Brigada Eskwela 2019 from May 20 to 25, 2019 also commences. The theme for the said activity this year, “Matatag na Bayan, para sa Maunlad na Paaralan,” reflects the goal of Brigada Eskwela 2019 to bring all stakeholders together to participate and cooperate by contributing their time and effort to prepare the school facilities for the opening of the school year this June 3, 2019.

All permanent DepEd employees, teaching and non-teaching personnel, are now required to create an account at Facebook Workplace using the DepEd email address, according to the advice from the DepEd Central Office for Administration, Undersecretary Alain Pascua. This aims to lessen the burden of all personnel by easy dissemination of information, sharing, collaborating and working as one department.

Reminders are given through DepEd Orders, specifically the DO number 11, series of 2018, known as “Guidelines on the Checking and Preparation of the School Forms,” and DO number 58, series of 2017, known as “Adoption of New School Forms for Kindergarten, Senior High School, Alternative Learning System, Health and Nutrition and Standardization of Permanent Records.”
