A representative from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has just visited me today for an initial registration process to the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys. After several data has been provided, I was given an Appointment Slip to show during the second process of having an official national ID in a few months’ time or earlier.
What do we have known about PhilSys or National ID System? The Philippine Identification System or known also as PhilSys becomes proof of being a Filipino citizen that aims to make government and private sector transactions simple, safe, and efficient.
The National ID can be used in different government transactions to avail services, helps faster social welfare and benefits application in GSIS, SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG. It can also be used as a credential when securing a passport, driver’s license and anything that related to taxes. It can be used when enrolling in schools, universities, and even applying for a job. This will be used also when securing Police and NBI clearances or even when opening bank accounts.
Registration for a National ID is free and it has already started. Just today, a representative came over and did a pre-registration; a pre-requisite for the final registration process.
The pre-registration process is the initial step in gathering demographic data done by the PSA. While the Registration process will complete the National ID System when individual information, biometric, and photos are gathered.
The Philippine Statistics Authority follows the rules PhilSys Act of 2018 and the Data Privacy Act of 2012 in implementing the Privacy by Design Principles; so my personal information will be safe in PhilSys.
