National Learning Camp 2024 Kicks Off: A Summer of Learning and Recovery

Today marks the official start of the National Learning Camp (NLC) 2024, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Education (DepEd) aimed at addressing learning losses incurred during the pandemic. The NLC is a crucial part of DepEd’s broader National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP), which seeks to bridge educational gaps and ensure that no learner is left behind.

Legal Bases and Rationale

The NLC is anchored in DepEd Order No. 003, s. 2024, which amends DepEd Order No. 22, s. 2023, outlining the school calendar and activities for the 2023-2024 academic year. This year’s NLC is being held from July 1st to 19th, 2024, during the end-of-school-year (EOSY) break. The program is voluntary and free for all public school students.

The NLC recognizes that the pandemic has disrupted traditional learning, leading to significant learning losses for many students. The program aims to provide additional support to learners, particularly in the areas of English, Science, and Mathematics, to help them catch up and regain their confidence.

The NLC is designed to:
