It was short notice that one of my students can’t make I for her birthday trek to Panimahawa Ridge thru a travel and tour group based in Davao City. I suddenly found myself saying yes to Roswell and Kyle Nicole’s invitation to go with them. Instead of “licking my woundedness” around, without thinking twice, I agreed to replace Michaela.
Not all trekkers trek just because they enjoy it, but not all trekkers trek because they’re broken hearted. I’m not saying that it’s not me, haha! I had to go with Roswell and Nicole believing that accompanying them can make things better, as well as, I have to go out and breathe fresh air. So that’s the short introduction why I’m blogging about this promising Panimahawa Ridge!
Scenic and stunningly beautiful: sea of clouds, fresh air and the soothing moisture on my face while living the present wonderful moment; that’s how I describe my short experience at the ridge. Few words to describe the enriching experience that was set before us when we reached Panimahawa Ridge!
Panimahawa Ridge is located in Impalutao of Impasug-ong, in Bukidnon. It has an elevation of 2,678 feet or 819 meters that will give you the privilege of touching the sea of clouds (if you are lucky!).
Bukidnon is a landlocked province located in the Northern Mindanao. The name “Bukidnon” means “highlander” or “mountain dweller.” While Panimahawa is a Bisayan word which means, “breakfast.”
Proper outfit and gears for the trail is necessary to protect you from injuries. Bring trail food and enough water with you and don’t forget to bring headlamp or flashlight if you go for early morning trek to catch up with the beautiful sunrise at the ridge. Most of all, charge your smartphones or DSLR to capture the whole moment of your stay. Roswell brought with him his drone and you can watch the captured videos below.
We took a side trip to CEDAR (Center for Ecological Development and Recreation) and dip with gusto to
We also visited the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Malaybalay City for a short stay; some prayed, some just took pictures of the place. It was a nice place though.
We proceeded to Lake Apo in Barangay Guinoroyan, Valencia. It is a crater lake located in a hilly area about 640 metres in elevation, about 11 kilometres of Valencia City in Bukidnon.
If you are planning to visit the place, there are now a lot of package tour that includes the Panimahawa Ridge, Cedar
